Four Corner Fusion and Proximal Row Carpectomy: Comparison of Wrist Motion and Tendon Forces
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Introduction: There is controversy as to whether a proximal row carpectomy (PRC) is a better procedure than scaphoid excision with 4corner fusion for preserving motion in the painful posttraumatic arthritic wrist. Clinical studies have shown that wrist range of motion after PRC and 4-corner fusion are comparable, although slightly less after 4-corner fusion (Krakauer, Wyrick, Tomaino). Recent 10 year follow-up suggest more complications with PRC. The purpose of this study was to determine how the kinematics and tendon forces of the wrist are altered after PRC and 4-corner fusion.

Comparison between proximal row carpectomy and four‐corner fusion for treating osteoarthrosis following carpal trauma: a prospective randomized study
OBJECTIVE To compare the functional results of carpectomy and four-corner fusion surgical procedures for treating osteoarthrosis following carpal trauma. METHODS In this prospective randomized study, 20 patients underwent proximal row carpectomy or four-corner fusion to treat wrist arthritis and their functional results were compared. The midcarpal joint was free of lesions in all patients. ...
متن کاملA comparative study of the surgical procedures to treat advanced Kienböck's disease.
We have treated a total of 16 cases of advanced Kienböck's disease, stage III and IV by Lichtman's classification, with triscaphe fusion, tendon ball replacement arthroplasty after excision of lunate, proximal row carpectomy as a salvage procedure and limited wrist fusion, since 1985. All cases were followed for minimal 16 months after each operation. Tendon ball replacement arthroplasty after ...
متن کاملOsteochondral resurfacing with proximal row carpectomy: 8-year follow-up.
Degenerative arthrosis of the proximal row remains a challenging problem for both patients and surgeons. Proximal row carpectomy is a motion-preserving treatment option, with studies documenting acceptable long-term outcomes. Proximal row carpectomy is an attractive option because there is no need for fusion to occur between the carpal bones, as in 4-corner fusion. As a result, laborers and smo...
متن کاملarthropathy: A systematic review Clinical outcomes of proximal row carpectomy versus four-corner arthrodesis for post-traumatic wrist
We conducted a systematic review of studies reporting clinical outcomes after proximal row carpectomy or to four-corner arthrodesis for scaphoid non-union advanced collapse or scapholunate advanced collapse arthritis. Seven studies (Levels I–III; 240 patients, 242 wrists) were evaluated. Significantly different postoperative values were as follows for four-corner arthrodesis versus proximal row...
متن کاملTreatment of Scapholunate Dissociation With Palmaris Longus Tendon Graft: A Biomechanical Study
Posttraumatic instability of the wrist, resulting in scapholunate dissociation, is a common injury pattern in the wrist [2]. Mayfield et al. [1] described instability progressing sequentially from a scapholunate interosseous ligament (SLIL) tear to complete ligament failure around the lunate, resulting in lunate dislocation. Linscheid et al. [4] also demonstrated that excision of the dorsal rad...
